Playhouse Applications Now Open!
Habitat for Humanity of Ottawa County is excited to announce that we are now accepting applications for our 2026 Playhouse Project!
This year, six local children will receive a custom playhouse completely free of charge thanks to the generosity of our community sponsors: USG, VISTRA, Weichert Realtors-Morgan Realty Group, Port Clinton Eagles Club, Walmart, and Materion.
Each playhouse will be personalized based on the selected child’s interests, favorite colors, hobbies, and themes — creating a special place just for them to imagine, play, and make memories.
To qualify, families must:
-
Live in Ottawa County
-
Have at least one child under age 10
-
Be available to attend the Playhouse Presentation on Friday, August 28, 2026 at approximately 3:00 PM
-
Be able to pick up the playhouse following the presentation
Families will be selected through a random drawing of eligible applications.
Applications are available online and in-store at the Habitat ReStore. Applications must be submitted by the end of July.

Giving Local Kids a Place to Dream, Play, and Call Their Own
Our Playhouse Build program is offered exclusively to Habitat for Humanity of Ottawa County’s annual sponsors. As part of your sponsorship, your organization will receive a prefabricated playhouse kit to assemble, decorate, and present to a local child — creating a joyful and lasting memory for their family.
A playhouse is more than a toy — it’s a small home a child can care for, imagine in, and take pride in. It gives them a space that’s all their own, and a reminder that their community believes in them.
All proceeds from this program directly support Habitat’s mission to build and repair affordable housing for families right here in Ottawa County.
How It Works
-
Your team receives a playhouse kit delivered to your location (or available for pickup)
-
You build and decorate the playhouse — either using a theme chosen by your team or one requested by the recipient family
-
Once completed, your team will present the playhouse to the child and their family
You are welcome to personalize your build with paint, decorations, toys, or accessories — anything that helps make the experience more memorable. Habitat coordinates the family match and presentation logistics.
